After years of serving to their users now it looks like Picasa to quit its journey and retire in favor of Google Photos in coming few months which has been announced that would help Google pretty much to focus on only a single photo service which would be Google Photos. The main reason behind this decision is to keep an eye on both the desktop and mobile versions into a single unit of application. This amalgamation of these to giants does not effect the users with their data and quality of work provided by the application. Google have pre-announced the data to introduce these changes in Picasa on May 1.
The main thing to question your self right now would be to save your photos and videos still on Picasa web album or to move it to Google photos or else you do not want to move to Google Photos yet.
After Google will have full authorization over Picasa, Google will offer the users some way around to the users to access all their data even when the Picasa is out dated but you will not be able to use Picasa or upload any data.
Google will start to decline the support for Picasa desktop application from March 15 which means that there will be no more updates for Picasa as the ending data is around the corner but it is still usable. Some functions for the Picasa Api will come to an end for the develops who use Picasa Api’s but there wont be any change today.
